A way of professional

I had a chance to talk with a professional pianist last night.
She is one of the judges in an upcoming music competition and she has also been judges for many other music competitions around the UAE.

I was startled when I asked her how many hours she used to practice piano a day.

She said when she was young she used to practice piano about 14 hours a day during holiday.
I was astonished.
She said the lesson would start at 7am and she would practice for 5 hours.
When lunch time came around, her teacher would tell her to put her hands into cold icy water.

And the practice would start as soon as the break ended.

It is not easy to be a professional.

  1. Practicing an art at the professional level is a work very hard!
Today I spoke with a painter who has been surgically operated joints of the two shoulders, because the large number of hours at the easel has ruined his joints .... Every art requires sacrifice, when he gives the means to live well and maintain the family, as for example the case of this painter.

  2. Hi Rita,

Certainly, especially in the art field, to be a professional is really hard.
The artist who had an operation on his shoulders must have been painting for a long time. I feel sorry for him. Artists are almost just like sports players right?

  3. Hello Midori:) What an attitude this woman has! Wow. I love the colors, so strong. They go perfect with her expression. Your flowerpaintings are both beautiful! You are a great flowerpainter! And HaniHani: I love it! Can't get enough of him! Keep on going with your nice art:)
