はげになる？

幸運にも、数人の子供に水彩を教える機会にめぐまれている。

昨日、大胆になりなさい。小さなことにとらわれないで、どかんと色をおいて、、、。
と英語でいった。（つもりだった。） しかし、一人の子がいってきた。

え、水彩すると、はげになるの？

なんのこっちゃ。

bald は、はげのこと。 boldは大胆なという形容詞.

わたしが、Be boldといったつもりだったが、発音がまずいと、はげのbaldになってしまう。家には英語のネイテイブが二人もいるので、教えてもらうが、何度聴いてもさほどの差は感じられない。RとL もわたしが苦手とするところ。何度練習しても、どこがちがうねんとおもってしまう。ネイテイブにすれば、R とL はあたりまえだが、まったく別のもの。しかし、私にはどうしても、この二つはお友達という感覚がとれない。
発音からではなく、スペルを頭のなかでおいかけて、RとLをいいわけているところがある。
まだ、子供はいい。ピュアな気持ちで違いを教えてくれるのでありがたい。

Luckily, I've been having a chance to teach watercolour to some kids. 
Yesterday, I said to them ''Be bold, ignore tiny details, use lots of colour and enjoy colour mix!'' 
but one girl asked me ''Wait, to do watercolour, we have to have no hair? We have to be bald?"

The pronunciation is totally different between bald and bold. Unfortunately, it's still hard for me to say them properly. 

"No, no," I said. "Bold, not bald."
But when I repeated bold and bald, I was confused which is which.
Teaching watercolour is lots of fun, but still I'm struggling with English.
Luckily, where I work is an International school. So all the kids get used to listen to English spoken by people as English as their second or even third language.
